We are excited to announce an opening for a passionate and dedicated Centre Cook to join a brand-new, purpose-built early learning and childcare centre located in Portland, regional Vic.

Opened in 2026, this state-of-the-art facility provides high-quality, accessible, and inclusive long day care and kindergarten programs.

Role Purpose

As the Centre Cook, you will be the heart of the kitchen. You will plan, order, and prepare a nutritious, rotating menu for all children in accordance with our health, nutrition, and food safety policies.

Key responsibilities include ensuring all meals are culturally inclusive, accommodate specific dietary requirements/allergies, and managing stock efficiently to meet budgetary guidelines.

Key Selection Criteria & Experience

  • Demonstrated background as a Cook or Chef preparing high-volume, nutritious meals in a timely manner.
  • A sound understanding of the Food Safety Act and strict kitchen hygiene standards.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with staff, children, and families.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Certificate in Food Handling.
  • Food Safety Supervisor Certificate.
  • Valid Employee Working with Children Check
  • Willingness to undergo a National Police Check (and an International Police Check if you have resided outside of Australia for 12 months or more within the last 10 years).
  • First Aid, Anaphylaxis, and Asthma qualifications (or willingness to obtain).
  • Completion of Protecting Children - Mandatory Reporting online learning (or willingness to obtain).
